Marvel’s Avengers is an action-adventure game set in the Marvel Universe. The title operates within the gaming service model and is constantly being developed and supplemented with new content. The production was created as a result of the collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montreal, and the editing was undertaken by Square-Enix.
The story featured in Marvel’s Avengers Download begins on the so-called A-Day, when the new high-tech Avengers headquarters in San Francisco opens. The party is hosted by a group of superheroes: Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Black Widow. The whole event ends in disaster – a series of explosions destroys much of the city and the heroes are blamed. The team of heroes falls apart, Captain America is presumed dead, and the rest of the Avengers, alone, try to cope with the aftermath of the tragedy. However, the new threat forces the heroes to join forces again and confront the powerful AIM organization.

Marvel’s Avengers free is a classic representative of the action adventure game genre. The game focuses on exploring the next steps and fighting against enemies. The creators made sure that each hero attacked in a way that was characteristic of their comic book counterpart. This changes the gameplay with the hero controlled. An extensive character development system has also been implemented in the title. As you progress, new abilities and equipment are unlocked, allowing you to constantly increase the effectiveness of the heroes. In addition, the game features different types of cosmetic items that allow you to customize individual heroes.
In the story missions, Marvel’s Avengers free allows you to play in single-player mode. However, the creators have also made it possible to play cooperatively in a team of up to four people in specially designed operations. In Marvel’s Avengers, care was taken to ensure that the characters looked similar to their comic book counterparts – so the actors in the hugely popular Marvel Cinema Universe (MCU) weren’t molded.
In many ways, my short Marvel’s Avengers adventure wasn’t much different from my experience with movies in that universe. This production is extremely accessible, doesn’t require great skills, dynamic, efficient, full of cheerful demolitions and beloved superheroes seeding it. You swallow it without drinking and there’s a lot of not-too-deep fun in the game. But as with most Marvel movies, I forgot the details of my twenty-five-minute session with the Avengers within a few tens of seconds after walking away from the console.

I want to point out right away that the impressions of the recently completed gamescom should not be treated as an oracle. After all, it’s hard for creators of first contact with a new production to get us into stages where a single mistake ends with the last save loading. The developers Marvel’s Avengers Download on pc from Crystal Dynamics have pointed out that after the prologue presented to us, the game will become much less linear and will offer challenges of different levels of difficulty. I have no doubt about that – but at the same time, I can’t help but feel that until the end credits, the game will be limited to only the mistreatment of two alternating buttons, with occasional pauses to launch a special attack or fight from a distance.
Someone may say – okay, but why didn’t a similar system in last year’s Spider-Man or Batman: Arkham trilogy bother you, and here it makes a big deal? Well, because even though the combat in the mentioned productions wasn’t particularly demanding, it was compensated for by great exploration, an interesting plot, or an addictive atmosphere. Meanwhile, in Marvel’s Avengers Download, creating the atmosphere feels like trying to look more like the specifics of the superhero movies in this universe, and stealing Iron Man makes a decent impression, but you don’t understand the momentum and excitement. The story boils down to a limited storyline: the Avengers try to save San Francisco, they fail, public opinion blames them for the enormous destruction, so now each of them must overcome their weaknesses, become a united team again, send their enemies into oblivion (probably turning an unfortunate city into dust and dust again), and then jump on the shawarma.

After gamescom, what worries me the most is the fact that there is no specific element in Crystal Dynamics’ production that could be its peculiarity. It’s certainly not the ability to play with all the well-known characters from the early Avengers (except Hawkay, because after playing the Flying Arsenal, the Storm God, and the Angry Green Monster, a guy who shoots a bow well doesn’t sound quite as exciting). Iron Man, Thor, Captain America – all have slightly different moves and special attacks, but the gameplay is pretty much the same. Every once in a while, Tony Stark will fly after a few bad guys, and Hulk will throw a tank at someone, but the core remains the same: the same two buttons and always the same combinations are enough to win each match. The exception here is Black Widow, who fought the villainous Taskmaster using mostly pistols.
At no point in the series did Marvel’s Avengers download surprise me for more or less. It’s as if the order comes from above: don’t go crazy, do the gameplay in the manner of other superhero hits from Rocksteady and Insomniac, and bring the rest as close as possible to the movies. Apparently, it’s too much of a box office project to be tempted by riskier solutions. And the attached follow-up to the cinematic universe has already hit creators with hiccups, because while each Avenger’s costumes and hairstyles look like those in the movies, the same can’t be said for faces and voices. As a result, the entire superhero team resembles exceptionally zealous cosplayers, and their shifting jokes in the midst of the locals’ fight for lives don’t have the naturalness known from the big screen.
